  1. Purpose of the Contest:

The short story writing contest “Gifts of Life” aims to discover, collect, and widely share with the public outstanding short stories and meaningful life lessons from various aspects of everyday life.
Stories with excellent content will be selected for adaptation into short animated films broadcast on the “Gifts of Life” program on VTV3 – Vietnam Television.

  1. Eligibility:

Open to Vietnamese citizens residing both within the country and abroad.

  1. Contest Content
    There are no restrictions on themes or topics.
    Stories may cover any aspect of life — about people, animals, or even fictional characters. Each story should convey profound and humanistic messages about human emotions, philosophies, or meaningful life lessons.
    Stories with unique, creative ideas and original writing styles will be given special consideration.

  1. Submission Format

    • Each entry must be no longer than 1,500 words.

    • Manuscripts must be written in Vietnamese, either neatly handwritten or typed on A4 paper. For digital submissions via email, please use the Times New Roman font.

    • Authors must include a signed Author’s Copyright Declaration (download the form here: http://goo.gl/zmcz5f) with all required information completed.

    • If submitting by post: sign the form and enclose it together with the manuscript.

    • If submitting by email: include the completed form together with the manuscript in your email (as an attachment or in the email body, as instructed).

  1. Submission period: From June 1 to November 30, 2015 (based on the postmark date or the email’s sent timestamp).

  1. Awards Structure

    • 01 Grand Prize: 20,000,000 VND

    • 01 First Prize: 10,000,000 VND

    • 02 Second Prizes: 5,000,000 VND each

    • 03 Third Prizes: 3,000,000 VND each

    • 20 Consolation Prizes: 1,000,000 VND each

    Entries that meet the quality requirements may be selected by the Organizing Committee for film adaptation or publication, and the authors will receive royalties in accordance with current regulations.

  1. Copyright Commitment
    All works submitted to the “Gifts of Life” Short Story Writing Contest must be original creations by the author or co-authors, who shall take full responsibility for the copyright of their submissions.
    Each submitted work must be owned by the participant and free from any copyright disputes with any individual or organization.

  1. Use of Submitted Works
    Sunrise Media Joint Stock Company (S.U.N RISE) reserves the full rights to use any works submitted to the contest for adaptation into films, publication as books, or the creation of other derivative works.
    Entries used for derivative productions will be compensated with royalties in accordance with the company’s established payment policies.

  1. Other Regulations

    • Each participant may submit multiple entries and may also receive multiple awards.

    • Prize winners are responsible for paying any fees or taxes related to their prizes in accordance with state regulations.

    • Participants must guarantee authorship and copyright ownership of the works they submit.

    • Sunrise Media Joint Stock Company (S.U.N RISE) reserves full rights to use all contest entries after paying royalties to the authors.

    • By submitting an entry, the author is deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to all the rules and conditions stated in the contest’s official regulations.

  1. Validity
    These contest rules take effect from the date of signing and official publication on the company’s official website and other mass media platforms.

    This regulation supersedes all previously announced contest rules.

    The decision of the Organizing Committee regarding the list of prize-winning authors shall be final and binding.
