“Gifts of Life” Short Story Writing Contest
Stories can cover all aspects of life, written in a concise and meaningful way that conveys profound humanistic messages about love, compassion, and the beauty of life’s philosophy.
According to Sunrise Media, the production company behind the television program Gifts of Life and the organizer of the contest, the idea for launching the short story competition came from suggestions by viewers. Many audience members expressed a desire to share their own touching life stories or meaningful lessons, and the contest was created to offer them a platform to do so.
Writers are encouraged to freely express their creativity, whether through humorous, satirical, or dramatic styles. There is no limit to the number of stories each author can submit. Selected entries from the preliminary round will be adapted into short animated films and broadcast on Gifts of Life—now airing on VTV3 (formerly on VTV1). Outstanding stories will also be compiled and published in a book.

The first prize is 50 million VND, the second prize is 20 million VND, the third prize is 10 million VND, and there are five consolation prizes worth 1 million VND each.
Each episode of Gifts of Life is a 5-minute animated short film, telling simple yet deeply meaningful stories about human emotions and kindness, celebrating the value of compassion in everyday life.
